I’m still on vacation, and this is not a ‘real’ post. Just a quick note to tell you that not only am I on vacation, most of Rome is too. The great exodus is happening and Rome is as empty as you’ll ever be likely to find it. This means blessedly empty piazzas and streets. But it also means it’s not so easy to find a good restaurant that’s open.
Rather than respond personally to the at least half dozen emails I get daily asking me about eating in Rome this month, I thought I’d just write this short post to send you all to the incredibly helpful post written by my colleagues at Tavole Romane.
It’s become a very generous tradition that every year they do the grunt work of calling up all the best restaurants in town to find out their opening hours for the month.
Here is the post: Where to Eat in Rome August 2014
Even though it’s in Italian, I’m sure you can figure it out. Most of my favorites are there.
And now back to my regularly scheduled vacation.
