I’m coming to Rome and would like to book a private culinary tour with you, do you do that sort of thing?
Yes, I do! Visit my Food Tours page
to find out more. I work with a lot of chefs and restaurant owners.
This means be in for some serious ‘research.’ (Yes, I meant eating and
drinking)
With pleasure! You'll find all of my favorites on my two apps, Eat Rome and Eat Florence. If you'd like me to devise something more personalized, I do that too, for a fee. Just me an email and I'll let you know the details.
I’m coming to Rome, can you recommend some restaurants?
How do you decide what to write about?
Usually I just write about what I’m doing on a day to day basis. What I’m cooking, what shows I’m seeing, what shops I’ve visited. But I’m always open to suggestions, so if there’s something you’d like me to cover, just drop me an email.
I have a question, can I write to you?
If it’s a question about a specific post, then just comment. That way I can answer you, and at the same time other people can benefit. If it’s a general question about Rome, then please do go through my past entries. If it's a specific question about restaurants in Rome or Florence, then I invite you to buy my apps Eat Rome and Eat Florence. If the question is about planning your trip, and narrowing down your choices, I can help you work out an itinerary. See my Food Tours page to find out more.
I have written to you, but you haven't responded. Is there a problem?
I usually respond to emails within 48 hours. So if you haven't heard from me, then yes, there may be a problem. Unfortunately both AOL and COMCAST regularly blocks my emails coming from Europe. So if you have written to be from one of those two types of addresses, chances are that I've written to you but the email has bounced back. If you can please write to me with an alternative email address, that should solve the problem.

I really like your photographs, can I use them without asking your permission?
No, you can't. I don't like putting those ugly water marks on my pretty pictures, even though I know that would discourage people from using them. If you really do want to use one of my photos, just drop me a line and ask. As long as you give me credit and it's something that I'm interested in too, then I'm happy to share.
Do you know any great villas to rent in Italy?
Yes, see my post on my favorite villlas.
Do you review restaurants?
I don’t do traditional reviews on my blog. (See my work on Food and Wine for that). Instead I usually just write about places I’ve been to and liked.
And what about hotels? Again, I invite you to download my two apps.
Why aren’t your recipes nicely formatted like Sassy Radish and 101 Cookbooks?
Oh, I wish they were. And maybe some day they will be. But for now, I’m just writing them up as I would in an email to a friend (you!). They are pretty reliable, but I love to get feedback.
Where are you from? How’d you end up in Rome?
See my about page, and - even better - buy my book Restoring a Home in Italy
Can you recommend some cooking classes in Italy?
Yes, I can, here.
Who designed your site?
My talented sister, Robin Helman, who has worked all over the place -from Andy Warhol’s Factory to Martha Stewart. Visit her site to see what she is up to.
